All systems are loaded with the latest version of NeurOptimal® which is V3.1. and are fully updated between each rental.

Breakdown of Each Part
Microsoft Tablet & NeurOptimal® Software
The NeurOptimal® software observes your brain’s activity & delivers precise feedback through an audio track listened to via supplied headphones.
The software is proprietary to Zengar® Institute Inc. and works using a mathematical algorithm that can communicate with your brain in a language it understands.
All our Microsoft Tablets are Surface Pro i5 or i7 & they are loaded the latest update of the NeurOptimal® software, V3.5.0.28
We update each system through Zengar Institute in Canada between each rental to maintain maximum efficiency of the Microsoft Tablet and the NeurOptimal® program.
Z-Amp
This is the device that relays the brain’s activity to the NeurOptimal® software.
It is purpose built to support the NeurOptimal® technology and has been refined to achieve the
precise vision of Non-Linear Dynamical® Neurofeedback.
The five sensor leads plug into one side of it and on the other, a medical grade, silver coated USB cable connects it with the Microsoft Tablet.
It is light weight and has a plastic clip on the back to secure to clothing or furniture during sessions to keep your hands free, or it can just sit in your lap.
E.E.G Sensors
These silver coated sensors read your brain’s activity & relay this information to the Z-Amp.
The clips are applied with medical-grade conductive gel and are not painful. They are commercial-grade EEG sensors designed for use with NeurOptimal®, measuring the brain’s electrical activity. All sensor sets are tested prior to being sent out.
The NeurOptimal® system uses five sensors:
– Two yellow, flat sensors which are fixed with gel to the scalp.
– Two blue, clip sensors that are clipped to the top of each ear.
– One black, clip sensor is clipped to the earlobe of the right ear.
Ten 20 Conductive Paste
A small amount of medical-grade conductive paste is used to support a clear and consistent connection between the sensors and the scalp. It helps ensure accurate signal transfer during each session while remaining gentle and easy to apply.
Although the paste is conductive, the NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback system does not put any electricity into your brain. The conductive nature of the gel is used to enhance the signal coming from your brain to the sensors.
The paste is water soluble and we provide wet wipes with the kit. We also provide a SDS on the gel so you have all the information you need. If you feel you may have a sensitivity to the gel (unlikely) please reach out, and we can supply a small amount free of charge so you can test it out on your skin.
Headphones
These are worn by you for the complete 33 minute session. They allow you to hear the audio upon which the feedback is delivered as an interruption.
Any headphones used with NeurOptimal® need to be corded as the fractional delay that occurs using Bluetooth® / Wireless headphones can affect your brain’s ability to interpret the feedback interruption at precisely the correct moment.
At Neurofeedback Rentals we supply Sennheiser HD 400 Series Headphones with all of our kits because they provide clear, balanced audio with passive noise isolation. They connect easily to the Tablet through the audio jack port. So you do not need to provide your own headphones during the rental.
Medical Grade USB Cable
The kit includes a medical-grade USB 2.0 connection cable designed to ensure stable and reliable communication between the Z-Amp (blue box) and the Microsoft Tablet.
The 6-foot cable features USB to UBS male connectors, with 28 AWG data lines and 24 AWG power lines to support consistent signal and power delivery. It incorporates both foil and braided shielding to minimise electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, helping maintain clean and uninterrupted data transfer at speeds of up to 480 Mbps.
The cable is medical grade and the highest quality available to ensure that your brain’s information is passed with the least corruption possible.
